Origin of Gold
Ethical Gold from Latin America
The Gold of your jewellery piece is ethical Gold originating from eco-responsible artisanal mines in Latin America (Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia).
These artisanal mines are run with a formalized, organized, economically viable, responsible activity in a social and environmental framework (including the reduction and control of mercury use, and ecological rehabilitation).
Their development takes place against a background of good governance, participation and respect for human rights. These mines take part in the continuous improvement of working conditions, local development, poverty reduction and the promotion of social peace.
To restore greater fairness in the distribution of created wealth, developing eco-responsible mining practices and their diffusion in the sector, ethical gold is bought from miners at an average of 11% above gold market price
JEM’s Ethical Gold meets fairtrade standards and the standards established by the first eco-responsible artisanal mining programs.
